Alpine Driving School, Inc. is a 5 Star Quality diving school that prides itself on preparing teens and adults for any type of situation on the road. We ensure our students fully understand the laws of the road and make good decisions behind the wheel. Alpine teaches students the specifics of Michigan's Graduated Driver's License system (GDL) and prepares them for their final state examination.
Alpine maintains good clean vehicles that are comfortable and safe to drive and equipped with the state required safety devices. We have State Certified instructors that teach the course and provide behind-the-wheel instructions in an organized manner. Students get special one-on-one teaching opportunity for 1 hour with the driving instructor each time they drive. What a great educational advantage!
Our school is conveniently located across the street from Southfield High School at 24768 Lahser Road, Ste. 102 at 10 Mile Road in the (Bernadine Trout Law Office). We support both High Schools and the surrounding (Public and Private) schools through sponsorships and other activities & events. Our second location is at 8018 Sheldon Center Road, Canton, MI 48187 (In the Sheldon Center Plaza - Opposite Central City Dance).
We don't use a driving range to teach our students. Students learn best when they get on-the-road driving time. Our training prepares them for real world traffic in an organized method, building up to major highways.
Alpine driving school has competitive prices and occasionally will offer specials to their students. Our classroom hours are convenient for working parents starting at 6:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday for 3 weeks.
We are members of the Michigan Driver & Traffic Safety Education Association (METSEA). We constantly update our programs materials to keep our teaching fresh and exciting.
In order for your teen to be eligible for Driver Education, he or she must be a minimum age of 14 years and 8 months to register and be ready to complete 24 hours of classroom and 6 hours behind the wheel. The written exam consists of 100 multiple choice questions which each student must past with an 80%.
Upon completion of Segment I, the student will receive a certificate to obtain a Level I License from the Secretary of State. The Level I license requires that they complete 50 hours of supervised driving with a parent or designated licensed adult 21 years or older. Students must drive a minimum of 90 days between completion of Segment I and enrollment in Segment II while completing 30 hours of the required 50 behind the wheel.
After completing the minimum of 6 months of driving, and no crash/violation for 90 days, students (age 16) can take their Road Test with a State Certified Road Test examiner. Driver road test services are provided only through a privatized third party testing program. This program utilizes a statewide network of public and private organizations certified by the Department to conduct the road skills tests. A list of locations for the Road Test can be obtained at your Secretary of State Office.
Students, who successfully complete their road skills test, will be issued a skills test certificate. This certificate is not a license. You must submit your skills test certificate to the Secretary of State Branch Office to receive your full driver privileges. As a new driver, you may drive without supervision except from midnight to 5 AM. If you must drive during this time due to employment, you are required to have written permission from a parent.
All Alpine vehicles are fully insured and certified with dual brakes. Our cars are equipped with safety belts and flagged with bright yellow signage that identifies each vehicle as a student driver's car to alert other drivers.
